Clubs - Where do I go dancing?
You may want to dance or to hang out with friends in a club in Bucharest. You are lucky, Bucharest has some nice clubs, with good music and friendly atmosphere.
First of all, you have to decide. You want a student club, a fancy one or just somewhere where music is loud?
A traditional one is Club A, an old place, familiar to most of the students in Bucharest. Here you can listen mostly rock music and "oldies but goldies". This is not expensive at all, a beer is less than one euro. If you enjoy listening to bands such as Depeche Mode, U2 or Billy Idol or Gloria Gayner, you should go to Barfly. Even the club is not big, you always are amazed how many people can dance in such a small area. The party goes on and on in the night, mostly in weekends, so, even at 5 o’clock in the morning, Barfly is full. The prices are also low, a beer is about one euro and tequila is about 2. Good parties you can find also in Fire and Backstage clubs, but we wouldn’t recommend it that much. It’s not very clean and people coming there are not always very friendly. Especially when they get drunk.
A good place to dance is B52, because the music is great. Too bad the place is too tiny, and around 1 in the morning you’ll get tired of being stomped on, no matter how much fun you're having. And for a rock-roll adventure, all night head banging there are Underworld, Revenge and The Jack to suit your taste.
If you like a little quieter club and some electro or chill out music, try Frame. The music is very good, you can either sit on a table or dance. People are very nice, so you can even make new friends there.
For Electro music, the best clubs are Embryo, Studio Martin and Kristal Glam Club. They are fancy, very good looking, quite expensive (a beer is somewhere around 3 euro), but you can enjoy a good cocktail there and listen to talented DJ’s mixing.
Another fancy club is Fratelli, also good looking. Here you listen to all kinds of music and you dance all night. The kind of place you to go show off, more than to dance. And there is always the all so famous Bamboo, loved by some, despised by others. The club looks great, the music is nice, the crowd…well that is a completely different story.
Let’s say you want a club with animators, whisky and more fancy. We suggest you should go to Terminus. There you can listen mostly to disco music, but they have from time to time jazz evenings. Or try Bavaria, this one being on the decadent side of life.
Hit as many clubs as you want in a night, especially if you go out in the clubs near Romana Square or in Regie. In Romana, you have a choice between The Office, Planter’s, Downtown, QPub or Tonka. And in Regie, you just have to cross the street to get from Dumars to Pub 18 or Maxx.
If you have to choose a club to go to, you should consider what’s going on there that evening (for that, check Metropotam J ). You can find a nice party where a good DJ is taking care for the music (we recommend you keep an eye on Tom Wilson, Gojira, Electric Brother) or you can find out more about romanian music, going to a concert. If you are in Bucharest and you see that Kumm, Khidja Clouds Society, Vlaicu Golcea for jazz. And if you get the chance go see Ada Milea in a concert in Art Jazz Club.
