Shooting movies is not free in Bucharest. Any longer.

If lately any producer were able to shoot around Bucharest, more or less, it looks like the City Hall decided that this would not be possible any longer.

As such, after some thorough calculations they came up with a fee that is competitive with the ones charged for any other European city: 24  USD per square meter per day of shooting. This is also applicable for any company - Romanian or not - and it's not that difficult to imagine that coming to shoot a movie in Bucharest may not be a first option for many of the Romanian movie producers, at least. )sorry no link available as of yet, we've been given this tip by a friend of ours working for the city hall)
